Toward a Rainbow Hamlet

The dream of a Rainbow Hamlet took center stage during the Order of Interbeing retreat in June! RaD supported 3 LGBTQIA+ friends to join the retreat this year. One of our own Rainbow Dharma Collective members bravely asked a panel of Dharma teachers to reflect on the ordination of trans community members. An unskillful answer to that question started a chain of events that led to healing dialogues and a beautiful speech from Brother Phap Huu in which he shares a hope that ordination of trans and non-binary friends will be possible in his lifetime. For the first time ever, this OI retreat also included a panel focused on the Global Majority and Rainbow Family as a ‘prime time’ event! Dharma Teachers Maru Moonlion and Jan-Michael Ehrhardt both shared their dreams for a gender-inclusive hamlet. Our RAD members returned from the retreat energised for action.
